Why should you sell a used camera?
Usually you buy a slightly cheaper entry-level camera to get started in photography. As soon as your interest in photography or videography increases, you may want to upgrade to a better or larger model, perhaps even change the brand or system.
new cameras, especially full-frame system cameras, are quite expensive and the old equipment usually collects dust in a corner. People often talk themselves into the idea of having a backup camera in case the main camera fails. But will the quality of the previous model be enough?
A trade-in can reduce the cost of buying new equipment. Over time, you'll also know which equipment you really need and which may have been a bad buy and is lying unused in the cupboard at home.
Another important aspect is that you generally get more for your equipment the sooner you sell it.
Have
you inherited old camera equipment or found it while clearing out? This happens all the time and we offer to value the photographic equipment and make you an offer for the price you would receive from us for the inherited equipment.
the most common reasons why photographic equipment is sold
- Upgrading: Whether you're upgrading from an SLR camera to a system camera, from a compact camera to a system camera or from a zoom lens to a fixed focal length - if you want to get more out of your photography or filming, you often want new equipment.
- Switching brands: Similar to an upgrade, switching to another manufacturer is a big decision, because switching systems is not cheap. After all, when you switch, you have to buy almost everything you have bought over the years again.
- Giving up your hobby: Sometimes it's a lack of time, sometimes a lack of interest, or there are very individual reasons why you want to give up your photography hobby.
- Clean out: Not everyone needs two or three cameras, the third Lens with the same focal length range or the well-intentioned accessories that are never used in practice.
- Paying off debts: Photo equipment can also serve as an investment in one situation or another and offer you support in difficult times.
What is my camera worth?
The value of a camera can be measured in various ways. This makes it all the more important to be as precise as possible in advance. A camera naturally depreciates over time. Older devices are generally cheaper than newer technology. Another factor for the value is the optical +amp; technical condition of the camera or Lens you want to sell. Another factor that you should not ignore when selling your equipment is the current demand. Of course, we are also interested in getting your equipment back into circulation.
old does not mean rubbishIn
recent years, there has been a turning point in photography. Analog cameras +amp; Lens have become icons in some cases and have seen a significant increase in value. This is also thanks to Instagram, Facebook, YouTube and co. The scene of vintage lens lovers is bigger than ever, with many adapting old lenses via regular lens adapters, but also via 3D printed lens adapters. Unfortunately, we cannot buy analog cameras, as we cannot guarantee full functionality.
checklist for the sale
- Have you removed all memory cards from the device? If your camera still has internal memory, this should also be emptied.
- Dismantle any accessories that you do not want to sell.
- Clean your equipment one last time beforehand.
- Look for the original packaging if it is still available.
- Have some old newspaper ready so that you can pack your equipment safely.
- Make sure that all serial numbers on the cameras and Lens are legible.
