The world's lightest and most compact premium camera: the RX0 II from Sony
The new RX0 II combines the best of the first generation with many new smart features: 4K videos are now possible internally. The display can be tilted and image stabilization is also provided. Inside the new camera works a multi-layered one-inch sensor with 15.3 megapixels. The body is compact, robust and waterproof. The ZEISS Tessar T* 24 millimeter Lens stands for first-class image quality. To ensure that the sound quality is also right, the camera has a separate microphone jack and harmonizes perfectly with the VCG-SGR1 recording grip.

With the introduction of the world's smallest and lightest premium compact camera RX0 II (model DSC-RX0M2) with a large one-inch sensor, Sony has presented an exciting newcomer in the compact camera sector. The newcomer in the range has inherited many features from its predecessor: a waterproof and dust-resistant as well as shockproof and shatterproof body, for example. At the same time, the new RX0 shines with internal 4K video function, an LC display that can be tilted up to 180 degrees to the rear and up to 90 degrees to the front and even works under water, and image stabilization in video mode.

Inside the RX0 II is a multi-layer Exmor RS CMOS image sensor (type 1.0 inch) with 15.3 megapixels plus BIONZ X image processor, which enables enhanced color reproduction, including natural skin tones, compared to its predecessor. This powerful combination provides extremely fast image processing and outstanding image quality for still and video shooting, with a wide sensitivity range from ISO 80 for stills to ISO 12800 for extra fast shooting in dark environments. The ZEISS Tessar T* 24-mm F4 wide-angle fixed focal length has a short minimum focus distance of 20 centimeters, making it perfect for selfies or tabletop photos.
A camera for all conditions.

You can count on the RX0 II even in difficult locations. It measures just 59 x 40.5 x 35 millimeters (WxHxD) and weighs a mere 132 grams including the battery. This means that the RX0 II fits easily into any pocket and is always ready for use. It is waterproof (up to ten meters deep), dust-resistant, shockproof (up to two meters) and shatterproof (up to 200 kiloponds).

"When we developed the original RX0, the goal was to build a camera that would enable new, creative expressions through its shape and technical capabilities," said Yann Salmon Legagneur, Director of Product Marketing, Digital Imaging at Sony Europe. "We have built on this with the new RX0 II. The new additional features make it, in our opinion, the ideal Ka-mera for any kind of travel. However, it is also suitable as a still or video camera for almost any photo or video situation."
Movies and more.

The RX0 II can record movies internally in 4k 30p with full pixel readout without pixel binning, capturing about 1.7 times the data required for 4K shooting. This high sampling reduces moiré effects and image defects, delivering smooth, high-quality 4K content with exceptional accuracy and depth. With Sony's recently launched Imaging Edge mobile apps, footage can be transferred to a smartphone, edited, and easily shared on social networks.

The RX0 II also features built-in electronic image stabilization for blur-free video capture. If the recordings are exported to a smartphone or tablet with the movie editing add-on, the content can be further optimized: Here, the additional information captured during the recording is processed so that a video can be additionally calculated free of shake - almost as if it were recorded with a gimbal. In addition, Sony's movie editing add-on can be used to access the new smart positioning feature, which keeps the selected subject in the center of the frame and corrects image distortion in a final edit. Depending on where the video is being shared, the required aspect ratio can then still be selected.

Other recording features of the RX0 II include Super Slow Motion recording at up to 1000 frames per second, uncompressed 4K output via HDMI, and simultaneous proxy movie recording. Users can use Picture Profile, S-Log2, and Time Code/Stamp to ensure the result matches their creative vision.

Precise Photography
In addition to video capabilities, the RX0 II offers many other photo capture features. The camera shutter makes times of up to 1/32,000 seconds possible. This effectively minimizes distortion and ensures up to 16 frames per second in series. Color reproduction has been improved even further compared to the original RX0. Straight skin tones are rendered realistically and the optional "Soft Skin Effect" hides minor blemishes and wrinkles. Rating and protection functions can be selected directly in the camera. Continuous shooting can be easily viewed individually on the camera.

Sony's eye autofocus, which has won over portrait photographers worldwide, has been improved for the RX0 II. The speed, accuracy and operation of the autofocus have been further improved, making it even easier to capture portraits. When the shutter button is pressed halfway, focus is automatically locked on the subject's eyes. The focused eye can be selected in the menu (left/right/auto) or assigned to a button, allowing the photographer to fully concentrate on the composition.

Interval shooting can be converted into stunning time-lapse videos using Sony's Imaging Edge desktop application "Viewer."
Multi-camera options.

Sony's "Imaging Edge Mobile" application can control up to five RX0 II cameras and between six and 50 cameras via one access point, such as the new Imaging Edge software for smartphone and PC. This feature will be added through a 2019 firmware update. The RX0 II is also compatible with the CCB-WD1 controller, which enables networking and control of up to 100 cameras. These multi-camera solutions open up a whole new range of shooting possibilities and angles.
