The world's first and only* Lens that combines 14mm ultra-wide angle with a maximum aperture of F1.4.

Everything for professional star photography.
The stars in the sky are a source of inspiration for many viewers. From a photographic point of view, the starry sky with its numerous tiny point light sources scattered across the image is a very challenging subject for a wide-angle lens. The 14mm F1.4 DG DN | Art is the world's widest-angle F1.4 fixed focal length Lens*. The trigger for the design of such a lens was the passion of SIGMA engineers to capture the starry sky in all its vastness and brightness in high resolution and captivating. Building on the latest technologies from SIGMA, the lens achieves the combination of 14mm ultra-wide angle and F1.4 aperture.

In addition, SIGMA's new 14mm lens offers high optical performance along with thorough sagittal coma correction, purpose-built features for star photography and high-speed autofocus based on a HLA (High-response Linear Actuator) linear motor.

The Milky Way stretching across the night sky, twinkling stars appearing above mountain ridges - the 14mm F1.4 DG DN | Art is able to capture this in a way that goes beyond the usual photographic experience. In addition to its exceptional capabilities when shooting the starry sky, it offers new possibilities for visual expression and enjoyment of subjects such as landscape photography, architecture and interior shots in dark and confined spaces.
*Excluding fisheye lenses, as an interchangeable lens for mirrorless cameras and SLR cameras (SIGMA
Research, as of June 2023)

Key features:
1.
14mm ultra-wide angle with a maximum aperture of F1.4 and outstanding optical performance
This world first has been achieved by applying SIGMA's best optical technologies from the design to the lens manufacturing process. 19 lenses in 15 groups, including 1 SLD glass element, 3 FLD glass elements and 4 aspherical lens elements, form a first-class lens configuration.

This allows for advanced aberration correction and a high degree of precision in lens construction. It is also helpful for the integration of the F1.4 aperture. Furthermore, sagittal coma, which otherwise distorts the shape of stars, is carefully corrected. Even at the widest aperture, the Lens delivers high imaging performance right to the edges of the image.

Ghost images and reflections are effectively eliminated by both the optical design and a special lens coating. All together, this ensures clear, razor-sharp images of starry skies and night scenes. Optimized for star images that require extremely high performance, this Lens delivers images that exceed expectations for any subject, including landscape photography, architecture, snapshots and indoor photography.

2.
Numerous functions and plenty of accessories for professional star photography
The 14mm F1.4 DG DN | Art is equipped with a wealth of functions that can be useful when photographing the starry sky. This ensures comfort and fun when working with this lens.

Tripod clamp
The lens has a detachable tripod clamp that is Arca-Swiss compatible. As the 14mm F1.4 DG DN | Art is somewhat top-heavy, it can be mounted on a tripod in a stable and balanced manner using the tripod clamp. The shape of the clamp is designed so that a lens warmer can also be used without any problems.

MFL switch(Manual Focus Lock)
The switch is used to decouple the manual focus at the preset position. This prevents focus shifts caused by unintentional operation of the focus ring. This is useful, for example, when taking pictures of the starry sky or long exposures where the focus is set manually in advance and must be maintained.

Holder for a lens warmer
A kind of lip runs around the front of the lens so that a warming collar* attached to it remains securely positioned without slipping and without accidentally entering the field of view of the lens.
*A cuff-shaped lens warmer is occasionally used to prevent fogging of the lenses when working in colder environments.

Rear filter holder
The rear filter holder is part of the lens mount equipment and is used to attach film filters to the rear of the lens. A locking mechanism prevents the filter from falling out.

Special front cap with locking mechanism and filter compartments
A specially adapted front cap with locking mechanism for a secure hold is included with the Lens. The cover also has two integrated filter compartments for transporting two film filters. This front cover is specially designed to protect the front lens element of the 14mm F1.4 DG DN | Art and also serves to transport and securely store the optionally available film filters.

3.
Characteristic features of the Art product line - such as the high processing quality
In addition to the features that have been specially developed for taking pictures of the night sky, the lens is equipped with other functions that provide helpful support for general photography. These include, for example, the AFL button, which can be assigned any function, and the manual aperture ring. The body is dust and splash-proof. The front element of the Lens has a water and oil-repellent coating so that you can take pictures outdoors even in somewhat rougher conditions. The "HLA" (High-response Linear Actuator) drive ensures very fast, quiet and high-precision autofocus. To provide such performance with such a large aperture, the Lens has a robust internal structure and also uses lightweight materials such as TSC (Thermally Stable Composite) polycarbonate, which has a comparable thermal shrinkage to aluminum, and magnesium.

The judicious use and combination of these components reduces the overall weight while still ensuring exceptional robustness. The 14mm F1.4 DG DN | Art is of high build quality and offers the specifications of the Art product line, allowing the user to fully enjoy the unique performance of the Lens in any environment, at any time of day or night.
