LUMIX GH5 II in detail:
1.
High base performance as a reliable tool for professionals The 20.3-megapixel Digital Live MOS sensor makes the best possible use of the detail resolution of the lenses used and minimizes ghosting and reflections even in backlit situations. In addition, the sensor offers a 25% higher dynamic range in photos compared to the GH5.
Compared to the GH5, the LUMIX GH5 II's fast and highly accurate autofocus detects eyes and faces about 2x faster and even when they are half the size that it took the GH5 to detect them. The camera tracks the subject even when they turn away from the camera, tilt their head, or move farther away. Improvements in DFD technology also affect continuous autofocus, allowing even small subjects to be tracked with focus when the shutter is released.
With the free-moving touchscreen LCD monitor or electronic viewfinder, users can use the frame marker function to check composition while shooting in a variety of popular aspect ratios, including 16:9, 4:3, 1:1, 4:5, 5:4 and 9:16. The red shooting frame indicator on the screen and in the viewfinder clearly signals whether the camera is shooting.
Every seam, dial and button on the LUMIX GH5 II is sealed to make it ready for tough outdoor use.
The shutter unit is designed to last for approximately 200,000 cycles.
To expand its outdoor capabilities, the camera is equipped with a new high-capacity 2,200 mAh battery for up to 1,200 photos. It is compatible with USB PD (Power Delivery) and can be charged via AC adapter or USB. The LUMIX GH5 II is equipped with a dual SD memory card slot compatible with V90-rated, high-speed, high-capacity UHS-II cards.
2.
High-quality video for unedited use or else editing with more advanced editing functions.
The LUMIX GH series offers outstanding video performance for professional videography. It can record virtually unlimited video in a wide range of settings. Even in 4K/60p, the entire sensor area of the GH5 II is utilized, allowing users to record video with the original angle of view of the Lens without cropping.
V-Log L is pre-installed in the camera to ensure high dynamic range and wide color gamut. No separate software upgrade key needs to be purchased. V-Log L renders a very flat image while preserving all color information, which is a great advantage in post-processing. For users who prefer a specific starting point for post-processing, there are 35 compatible conversion LUTs for VariCam cinema cameras available for free download. Handy tools like a Waveform Monitor and V-Log View Assist are also part of the GH5 II's on-board video toolkit.
Like the S-series video flagship, the S1H, the LUMIX GH5 II offers two types of Cinelike Gamma presets in the Photo Style menu. These modes create striking looks with warm skin tones or subtle nuances of light and shadow even without color correction over V-Log footage.
The Cinelike D2 preset emphasizes dynamic range, while Cinelike V2 prioritizes contrast. L.Monochrome S and
L.Classic Neo are also new additions. All of these presets are also available in Anamorphic mode.
In VFR (Variable Frame Rate) shooting, C4K/4K 60fps, Anamorphic 50fps and FHD 180fps are available. AF can be set before starting VFR recording.
3.
Wired and wireless live streaming for indoor and outdoor use High-quality live streaming is possible both indoors and outdoors with minimal equipment. All that is needed is the LUMIX GH5 II and a smartphone with the LUMIX Sync app. Alternatively, the camera can be wirelessly connected to the home network via the router.
In accordance with the RTMP/RTMPS protocol*1 using the H.264-Codec, a maximum resolution/frame rate of FHD/60p at 16Mbps*² is supported for live streaming on Facebook or Youtube, for example.
For wired live streaming, the special LUMIX webcam software is available for free download.
*1 Live streaming to the platforms that support RTMP/RTMPS is possible in principle (compatibility with all platforms cannot be guaranteed). Live streaming may not be possible if the platform offering changes. See the platform's terms and conditions for more information.
*2 16Mbps cannot be selected when RTMPS URL is set.
4.
Wide range of connectivity options and accessories adopted by the GH5
Bluetooth 4.2 and Wi-Fi 5GHz (IEEE802.11ac) / 2.4GHz (IEEE802.11b/g/n)
The LUMIX GH5 II integrates Bluetooth and Wi-Fi® connectivity for more flexible shooting and instant image sharing.
Once the camera is connected to a smartphone/tablet with Panasonic LUMIX Sync for iOS/Android installed, users can remotely shoot, browse and share photos and videos. Thanks to Bluetooth 4.2 (BLE, Bluetooth Low Energy) compatibility, the camera's power consumption remains minimal while connected to a smartphone.
The settings of a LUMIX GH5 II camera can also be copied and transferred to other GH5 II cameras, either via via wireless LUMIX Sync or via the SD card.
