The rangefinder - the heart of all Leica M cameras
The rangefinder displays an exceptionally bright, high-contrast image that is always the same size and extends beyond the actual subject. For an extended view of the scene and full control when focusing and exposing. The M6 uses a mechanical rangefinder with 0.72x viewfinder magnification, handcrafted from over 100 individual parts. With selective exposure metering through the Lens and the light balance displayed in the lower part of the viewfinder image, aperture and exposure time can be precisely coordinated. Focusing is carried out using a split-image or mixed-image method. Both are ideal for focusing quickly and extremely precisely, even in poor lighting conditions.

The advantages of rangefinder photography
If you can see more, you can assess situations better. This is why the unique rangefinder technology also shows what is happening outside the image size and helps you to choose the right moment to release the shutter. Illuminated frames outline the image field for six focal lengths; in pairs for 28 and 90 mm, 35 and 135 mm as well as 50 and 75 mm. After inserting a Lens, the corresponding focal length automatically appears in the viewfinder as the image field boundary. In addition, all other focal lengths can be displayed in the viewfinder using the field selector. This makes it possible to assess which focal length is best suited to the subject before the shutter is released. And which moment is the decisive one.

Leica M6 - the icon of analog photography
The analog M6 is considered a cult object. Intuitive, compact and discreet, it allows you to get close - to the action and to real emotions. Since 1984, it has been used by the world's best photographers to create countless iconic images.

Realvalue endures
Trends come and go. Genuine values, on the other hand, remain and are passed on sustainably from generation to generation. Leica cameras and Lens bear witness to traditional values such as consistency, reliability and quality. Genuine, tangible quality, achieved through high-quality materials and solid mechanics. Leica has always manufactured precision tools by hand, developing mechanical and optical masterpieces that are second to none and continue to set new standards. Genuine, tangible quality "Made in Germany", solely to give you maximum freedom when photographing at all times.
