  • Focal length magnification by a factor of 1.5
  • inspiring creative possibilities: "Shift" allows you to increase the diameter of the image circle
  • "Tilt": creative changes to depth of field are child's play
  • ideal in combination with various Lens types

The revolutionary HTS 1.5 is a tilt/shift adapter that allows many Hasselblad photographers to discover completely new creative possibilities. The adapter is designed for the HCD24mm, HCD28mm, HC35mm, HC50mm, HC80mm and HC100mm Lens and practically extends the program with six different tilt/shift lenses. With the extension rings H13, H26 or H52, the HTS 1.5 can also be used for close-ups. This is especially true in combination with the macro adapter, which optimizes the optical performance of the HC 50-II Lens at close range.

The simple unit not only solves technical challenges, but also offers exciting creative possibilities. The combination of proven optical principles and the latest developments in digital image processing creates a powerful package that takes your photographic expression to a whole new level.

Shift" describes the vertical or lateral lens movement from its central position while maintaining perpendicular alignment to the sensor plane. Put simply, the adapter increases the diameter of the projected image circle on the sensor plane. This opens up much greater freedom in placing the image area in a significantly larger image circle before vignetting sets in. And crucially, all this is possible without having to change the camera orientation in relation to the subject. So if falling lines are correct when looking through the viewfinder, this geometry is maintained even if additional image areas are made visible by "shifting" the Lens. Simple, but ingenious.

Tilting differs from shifting in that the normal perpendicular alignment of the Lens to the sensor plane is changed, which alters the focusing plane. As a result, the depth of field of the subject at a certain aperture/focus setting does not extend between two points measured by the camera - as is normally the case - but is wider or narrower. This extension is determined by the photographer. Again, this principle is ingeniously simple.

HTS 1.5 works perfectly with:

HCD24 mm
HCD28 mm
HC35 mm
HC50 mm II
HC80 mm
HC100 mm
Extension rings 13, 26 and 52 mm

Camera Basics #19: Tilt shift lenses and the effect explained

The tilt shift effect is certainly an old shoe for many photographers, but this effect is very interesting to consider because it can be found in many facets of photography, so the use of tilt shift optics is not only at home in architectural photography.
